Viet Nam is a long ‘S’ – shaped country bordering the Eastern Sea. Vietnamese describe their country as two large baskets rice hanging from a carrying pole made of bamboo. The two ‘rice baskets’ are the Red River delta in the north and the Mekong Delta in the south. The ‘carrying pole’ is the Truong Son Mountain Range in the narrow center of the country.
Viet nam’s diversity includes both natural landscapes and many different ethnic groups. After years of war, the country is now safe and secure for travelers. Viet Nam’s 3,000-kilometre coastline, includes islands, bays, and beaches that range from the secluded and romantic to the popular and sporty, also boasts a varied mountainous landscape. Each of its three geographical zones-north, center, and south – has abundant and unique flora and fauna, streams and waterfalls. Many of Viet nam’s mountainous regions have become popular resorts and have the chance to explore a variety of caves and grottoes. Limestone caves and grottoes are found in the north of Viet Nam, particularly in Ha Long Bay.
Vietnam also offers an opportunity to see a country of traditional charm and rare beauty rapidly opening up to the outside world. UNESCO has recognized the importance of five separate sites in Vietnam and has bestowed World Heritage status on Halong Bay, Hoi An, My Son, the caves of Phong Nha and the Imperial City of Hue.
The Vietnamese people have strong beliefs and values. Most of all they are warm and welcoming, and proud to show you their homeland.
You can really wonder just what country you really are in.
